Wyoming Governor Matt Mead and top private-sector and philanthropic leaders will host CO2NNECT 2018, an exclusive, invitation-only dialogue on carbon capture in Jackson Hole, Wyoming from June 17-19, 2018. The event of no more than 100 attendees is designed to increase understanding and harness leadership support for carbon capture among governors; members of Congress; industry executives; labor, philanthropic and NGO leaders; and journalists and media influencers.

Why

Carbon capture represents a cost-effective global solution for meeting the world’s energy needs, while creating jobs and reducing CO2 emissions, yet it remains poorly understood in most leadership circles, the media and the public. To the extent there is awareness, perspectives continue to be shaped by misconceptions, which often receive disproportionate attention in our polarized public discourse. Carbon capture is THE essential clean energy opportunity – and yet it has the lowest profile on our national energy agenda.

What

Held in one of North America’s premier venues, invited guests will hear brief, compelling presentations from the nation’s top experts and innovators in the field and participate in interactive dialogue with leaders across sectors, small-group meetings, meals and conversation in an informal setting.  CO2NNECT 2018 participants will learn the latest on emerging technologies, policy solutions, and cutting-edge projects, and they will bring their expertise and experience to help devise strategies and align efforts for elevating carbon capture on our public agenda and scaling it up in the marketplace.

Who

CO2NNECT 2018 hosts, the Great Plains Institute and other event organizers are currently reaching out individually to elected and appointed leaders from federal and state government; industry executives and leading entrepreneurs from energy, industrial, manufacturing, technology, and finance sectors; individual philanthropists and foundation executives; leaders of major industrial labor unions, environmental and conservation organizations, and think tanks/public policy organizations; and journalists and opinion leaders.
